Found this survey on a random blog and felt like going for it, especially with my birthday barely a week away…
1. Go to Wikipedia and type in your birth date only -without the year.
July 15 (woohoo, my birthday!) is the 196th day of the year (197th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. There are 169 days remaining until the end of the year. So I’m near the middle, but not quite.
2. List 3 events that occurred that day:
Several are listed, but here are three of the most interesting:
1815 – Napoléon Bonaparte surrenders from aboard HMS Bellerophon. — Napoleon surrendered, huh? How about that.
1870 – Post-American-Civil-War Reconstruction: Georgia becomes the last of the former Confederate states to be readmitted to the Union. — Mildly interesting.
1927 – Massacre of July 15, 1927: 89 protesters are killed by the Austrian police in Vienna. — A massacre on my birthday? We ought to be celebrating, not killing. Sheesh.
3. List 2 important birthdays:
* 1458 – Juan Ponce de Leon, Spanish Explorer (d. 1521)
* 1606 – Rembrandt, Dutch artist (d. 1669)
4. List 1 death:
* 1997 – Gianni Versace, Italian fashion designer (b. 1946)
5. List a holiday or observance:
Not going to lie, nothing terribly riveting occurs on my birthday, but here is one anyway:
The feast day of the Holy Nine Virgins. Here’s a Wiki-explanation of this: St. Donald of Ogilvy (also known as Donivald, Domhnall) was an early Scottish saint who died in the early 8th century. Donald is associated with Ogilvy (in the former Forfarshire). Upon the death of his wife, Donald formed a religious group with his nine daughters (known as the Nine Maidens or the Holy Nine Virgins), who later entered a monastery of Abernethy after his death. Their feast day is July 15.
