A MinD in MoTown

Tuneage Tuesday — “Slam Dunk Da Funk”

It was the mid-to-late ’90s and there was *NSync (my personal favorite), Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, LFO, and countless other boy bands just trying to make a name for themselves.

Including 5ive.

I can remember sitting in my overly-pink bedroom pre-2000, watching the Disney channel nearly every opportunity available just to see 5ive’s latest music video or even their concert performance with B*Witched. I never said I was a very cool pre-teen …

… And I’m clearly not that awesome as an adult either because several of their songs – such “When the Lights Go Out” and It’s the Things You Do” – are most definitely on my IPod. I will certainly might even download a few more tunes from 2006/07 when these boys apparently reunited.

I also like that ballad they did. I think it was something like, “Until Time is Though.” That was at least one of the lyrics. The one about the lights going out is pretty scandalous, if I remember correctly.

Oh, it is! “That’s when you will succumb to me.” (I shouldn’t know that, ha.)

I also loved NSYNC, and even though I’ve pretty much grown out of boy bands I still think they’re far superior to the others. Also, thanks for sharing the video – I’d completely forgotten about this video and these guys. I actually owned this CD!
